How to quiz gerunds and past participles

To quiz yourself specifically on gerunds (e.g. hablando) and past participles (e.g. comido), you can use the Custom Quiz section.

Step 1: Navigate to the Custom Quiz. To do so:

• On the App: Tap the pencil icon at the bottom of the screen.
• On the Web: Click "Custom" in the top right corner.

Step 2: Ensure your settings are configured as follows:

1. Quiz type: Conjugation
2. Practice method: Typing

Step 3: Select the correct tenses.

Tap "Edit" next to "Tenses". Because gerunds and participles are used within compound tenses, select the following:

• For gerunds: Select the Present Continuous (El Presente Progresivo) tense.
• For past participles: Choose any Perfect (Perfecto or Pluscuamperfecto) tense.

Step 4: Turn on "Prefill haber & estar".

After saving your tense selections, scroll down to the "Content options" heading. There should now be an option to "Prefill haber & estar". With this enabled, the app will automatically fill in the auxiliary verb (like estoy or he) for you. This allows you to focus on typing the correct gerund or past participle.
